Can You Still Live In a House that is Being Re-Roofed?

The team at Defense Home & Roofing understands how roof replacement can be a stressful time for you. We prioritize your comfort and do whatever is possible to give you peace of mind.

One of the first questions that customers ask from a roofing company is whether they can stay home while re-roofing or not? There are several things that you must know before deciding on this.

The answer to this question is entirely your decision. However, the roofing companies usually recommend you vacate your home while re-roofing due to the noise level. Although if you still decide to stay at home, here are a couple of things you might want to know.

Roof Replacements are Noisy

You may not realize how loud or annoying roof replacements can be. If you think that hammering nails is loud, then roof replacements may cause you a lot of discomfort. It is hard to stay at home with constant banging and hammering until the sun goes down.

Your Vehicles May Get Blocked In

An essential element that must be taken into consideration is your vehicles. Although, the first thing that the contractor does is make sure they are not blocking your vehicles or driveways. But, if you decide to stay home then choose to leave the house, the work will have to stop while our team removes the debris from the driveway to make room for your vehicle to move. This may add to the time for roof replacement and also cause inconvenience for the workers.

Consider your Toddlers and Pets

You have to think about how babies or pets will react to the noise. They may not seem comfortable with it. Babies are light sleepers; loud noises will most likely keep them awake.

Cats and dogs are also not used to such loud banging, and it may make them irritable. We recommend sending your pets for a spa day until the installation is complete. We personally recommend Lucy's Doggy Daycare.

Stay Out of the Way of Installers

When you hire a roofing company, you are entrusting them with a big responsibility. For your safety, it is important to stay out of their way.

Do not come out of your house, as when the old roof is being torn, the roofers may not be able to see the corners or edges over the roof. They won’t know if someone is there, hence stay safe inside.

Your contractor will also warn you before the tearing starts, so you can be cautious if needing to leave the house.

Defense is responsible for the cleaning of the worksite as soon as the installation has been completed. Your house will look as good as new after the thorough cleaning process. It is important to note, our crews are fully licensed & insured meaning you will not be liable in case of a worker’s injury at the installation site.
